Where everybody knows your name...

That damn "cheers" theme song is all I could think of, as I sit in the dark corner of a local bar. Some "hippie jam-band" played something that droned on in my ears...god, and people call techno repetitive...the crowd happily danced to some imaginary beat. I say imaginary because they certainly weren't following the one I was hearing...and everyone seemed to be dancing to a different one. Looked like the time of their lives though...so I'll give em' that.
Do you ever notice that when you want to go get a drink and be alone someplace where noone knows you....you're bound to be greeted by 20 friends. Seriously...maybe this is just a small town phenomenon...but "people" are unescapeable...
Oh yeah, had a shot of tequila...one of my favorites...wanted a little Tabasco in the bottom of it...(good stuff)...I tipped the hot sauce gingerly only to find the little pour spout had been removed. So what came out wasn't "drip drip drip" but more of a "glug glug glug" of fire-death-heat filling the shot glass that was...only moments before, pretty and golden and yummy. Now i'm not one to waste tequila...and I "made my bed"...so now I "gotta sleep in it"...much to the gasp and horror of my friends...and the even more frightened waitress...I think she was on the verge of the "diving leap" to knock the shot glass from my hand. Silly waitress, I'm way too quick with a drink for a mere-mortal to beat me.
The shot was horrible...but I made sure to not let that be evident on my face *lies*...I was stoic and steadfast *more lies*...and certainly didn't gag *yeah, you guessed it...lies*
My only solice came from random patron was so agasp...he bought me another, this time un-tainted, tequila shot...as a reward for my bravery.
thank god for heartburn meds...

ouch! my throat is burning thinking about that shot...
tequila and tabasco? never tried that before. hmmm... interesting combination...
Lol, great stuff! A little hair on your chest? I've never heard of a tabasco tinted tequila shot. Its amazing what you can add that stuff to...
Popcorn. Salad dressing. Red beans & rice. Yum.
On the techno note -- I used to LOVE this music. I still put it on occasionally in my car when no one is around to catch me. There's something about 'dancing to your own beat' that makes it so appealing.
I've never drank, but your story was very funny! Glad you survived!
I was at a dinner once and tried a hot sauce I never had before-- ended out being so hot that my tongue went numb for nearly twenty-four hours.
danielle- luckily, alcohol dulls pain...oh, and I love hot sauce...so theres that too
frozen- "Texas Prarie fire" is it's proper name. just a drop or too will do, either in the shot...or on the hand for a Lick/suck combo. also found in the movie "a time to kill" *yeah, random bartender knowledge*
random- you live in Louisiana and haven't heard of this! I'm surprised. My "ex" that lives in Baton Rouge is the one that got me into it. I've DJed techno/house going on 9years now in the Detroit area...so I'm a big fan, obviously.
mckenzie- never drank!...a part of this bartenders heart just broke...I'm crying on the inside. At least you'll try the hot sauce..but start mild and work up, the body gets used to capsaicin (hot part) over time.
You are a brave man. Not only is it a miracle that you downed a half and half of tequila and fire sauce without immediately spitting it out, but that you're still alive to tell the story.
Bravo man.
Bramutherfukinvo!!
TEQUILA!!(BARF...too many bad memories near a dirty Tijuana toilet courtesy of Tequila..I can't even smell it without gagging)
I love Patron chilled. yum.
As for the Tabasco...I've had someone put that down my straw once. At first I didn't know what the hell was wrong with me. I thought perhaps I was dying. Turns out...I wasn't in hell, only experiencing it.
As for jam bands and techno...I'm not a fan of either. But, to each their own.
elaine- you see tequila is like the love of a beautiful woman. Its heaven and bliss and you know you're gonna have fun...but when all is said and done pain and a headache is all you'll end up with.
vigilante- mmm, patron...my favorite is Don Julio (anejo) or Casadores (repasado)...as far as techno...unfortunately most of what people have heard is crappy commercial loud annoying BS...and I would agree, I dont like that stuff either.
I remember tequila shots with tobasco. Was once a favourite of mine. Sigh, do I ever miss it. That was very ummm brave of you do drink it with so much hot stuff in it though...Malox is good. :-)
Mcblogger- I say dust off your favorite sombrero and get back on the tequila/tobasco horse...you're never too old to pretend you're not.
Dont know much bout this her communication hub... but just met homeboy in real life and he certainly exudes a genuine vibe... peese...RHE
I worry about myself when drinking, and moderation is always important in my case. Two beer and I'm dancing on the tables. Impulse-control has gone like gold lamé and blue eye-shaddow.
Are you saying I'm old? I'd tread lightly there...hahaha
Mcblogger- no age assumptions were made I promise :-)...In fact I feel it's a negligible factor in one's ability to "cut loose"....coincidentally, isn't gold coming back?
